Here is just some tales from my mind

Unrequited

Lying motionless in bed, the soft hum of her A/C gently pushed air around her small room, a restless night ensnared her. The pale moonlight sneaking through the half-opened window, the distant buzz from cars passing on the nearby highway melded with the hum of the A/C.

Under the weight of the covers, her mind raced, fixated on her unspoken love – each painful, heart-aching thought expressing her desire for her love to be reciprocated. Her heart weighed heavily within her, burdened with the sorrow of unreturned love. Her misty eyes stared blankly at the ceiling, envisioning it as a blank canvas of possibilities—of what she desired most in the world. As she lay there, her heart strained under the weight of love not returned, each thought lingering on him, on every shared moment that hinted at what might never be.

With the hours of the night passing ever so slowly, she found difficulty in keeping her eyes closed, feeling a tight lump in her throat filled with melancholy. She turned to her side and clutched her pillow close to her body, her grip tightening as she fought vainly against the tears that threatened to overflow. Her mind flooded with images of him – his laugh, his warm smile, the glint of his eyes. As she wept, the pillow muffled her sobs, each tear a testament to the love she yearned to express and the pain of remaining unseen by him.

As she finally began to succumb to sleep, the sounds of the night softened, blending into the silence of her own deepening breaths, offering a temporary respite from her aching heart.
